Milan Center for Innovative Studies

This project was focused on building a land yacht that could travel upwind. These yachts were created with a chassis, a sail, wheels, a mast, and a boom. Students had to figure out what materials that they wanted to use for their design. Students were allowed to use the production lab equipment like saws, hot glue guns, and drill bits to help create their land yachts. Teams also had to write up a ‘case study’ for their land yacht. Pictures had to be included and descriptions of their land yacht. Students also had to research another type of vehicle to include in their case study. This project included a lot of revision to original ideas because no one really knew how to build a boat.
