The advertising project had a few different aspects to it. The teams had to create a website, a digital media piece, and print media pieces. The “advertisement” that students were supposed to create was actually a public service announcement about a societal issue. This project involved a lot of research because teams needed to be experts on their topics in order to present it in the three required ways. Teams also had to present their final products to students from around the school. This symposium day allowed students to practice speaking to smaller groups of students, and also let students show off their work. This project advanced students’ 21st century skills because they had to create a website, digital media, and print media pieces all created on the computer as well as work in teams based on interests instead of choosing.
